When fantasies become officially identified and labelled by science, they become a common  reference, go to an open dialog and allow a better understanding and acceptation.

Many of us couldn't say what kind of pleasure they were feeling by watching their wives with other men, and being sexual or not (one might take pleasure out exhibit his wife only) define the disturbing and confusing feeling this fantasy causes.

Fortunately, the scientific communauty has recently identified this for us, and tagged it with a beautiful word : "CANDAULISM". 

It was about time that a word able to alleviate the critical apprehensions and spirits appeared. One can now freely speak about "candaulists" phantasms as one discusses "saphic, sadomasochistic, etc"...phantasms,  without being regarded as a pervert person.

Fortunately manners evolve.... 

Candaulism is a paraphilia, consisting in the masochistic and/or sadistic pleasure in which the husband exposes his wife, or pictures of her, to other voyeurist people. Sometimes this behavior is taken to the extreme point, allowing complete sexual relations, a practice defined by many English speaking people in the swinging subculture as cuckoldry. In certain cases the relation evolves into a stable union of three persons that is known as triolism.

According to R. Senf, candaulism is a veiled form of homosexuality, and Sadger wrote that the candaulist completely identifies with his partner's body, and deep in his mind is showing himself.

Candaulism is a well knowned behaviour in the swinging communauty and many couples are turned on by the nuances and emotions of this adlut game...or should i say "adulterous" game ? It's not always easy to define why and how the "concept" of unfaithfulness becomes exciting. The ambiguity of the feelings and the absence of historical references blurs the reflexion, resulting in a very reductive approach and understanding of this pleasure.

Hence the term candaulism which derives its name (proposed by Gugitz) from ancient King Candaules who made a plot to show his unaware naked wife to his servant Gyges of Lydia. Discovering Gyges while he was watching her naked, Candaules' wife ordered him to choose between killing himself or killing her husband in order to repair the vicious mischief.
